The exhibit was a resounding success! In fact, due to overwhelming demand, the show was extended an additional 2 weeks, to June 1, 2010. Almost 300 people came out on April 8, 2010 to see this emotionally moving photo exhibit at the New England Institute of Art, in Brookline, MA. A special thank you to my colleague Fran Berger, at the Art Institute, for without her incredible passion, this show would not have happened!

My additional thanks to the Board of Directors of the Art beCause Breast Cancer Foundation, who believed and gave the go ahead, sight unseen, that this photo project about the stories of the Breast Cancer survivors needed to be told and photographed. It is about the survivors and their stories that is what this photo exhibit is all about. Their bravery, openess, and giving selflessly of themselves having no family history of this disease, to help others come out and tell the world about themselves and what they have gone through is truly amazing!

My special thanks to Ellie Anbinder, Executive Director of the Art beCause Breast Cancer Foundation, for whom without her guidance, perseverance, and down right chutzpah, helped make this project happen!

My thanks to Deb Cole, who is a breast cancer survivor, by accident became the poster child image for this project, mainly because when I made her image, I was using a slow shutter speed, she moved in just the right way, (thank goodness for happy accidents) and this became the image that was used on all of the marketing and promotional pieces for the Illuminating The Survivor Spirit; A Photographic Journey.

To my wife Greta, who came up with the Illuminating The Survivor Spirit title, a name for this project we struggled with for quite some time, she put the words right where they needed to be! I added A Photographic Journey, because we're all on a journey in this life. I just happen to document it visually as we go. To me it's always about telling stories visually! It's what I do.
